Four Colors Printing

  Magenta or
Process Red

  Black

We use 4 colors printing to produce color pictures. Cyan, magenta, yellow and black ink (CMYK) are also known as process colors.

By combining these process colors together in varying proportions and determined by the size of the half tone dots, we can obtain virtually all shades of any color.

  CYAN   MAGENTA   YELLOW   BLACK

To print this image, it is necessary to separate the original picture into 4 separate images (CMYK) that represent the relative values of each color. This stage is called color separation whereby it breaks up the original image into a series of dots of varying sizes.

YELLOW   YELLOW AND MAGENTA   YELLOW, MAGENTA AND CYAN   YELLOW, MAGENTA, CYAN AND BLACK

During printing, these 4 separate images are superimposed on each other and the final result is the original picture we want.
